5 January 2025
Olivia Nguyen | 11

Attending the LVYP January general meeting was such an fun experience! It was so nice to bond with my Kiwanis members and get to know them on a deeper level. The event provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for community service and growth. A bonus was the delicious food and free ice cream! The meeting was
not just productive but also filled with wonderful people and great vibes.

Magical Forest at Opportunity Village
5 December 2024
Kayla Lee| 11

I loved doing the magical forest. I went there with my fellow board members Olivia and Catherine. We helped manage the train by loading people on and off. I will admit that it was a little stressful due to how busy it was, but regardless I had a ton of fun. Personally, I told kids if they didn’t sit still that the reindeer were going to eat their fingers. They all sat still. A really kind woman and her daughter that were in line also gave me a free cookie which was really sweet of them. I always love volunteering for OV Magical Forest :)

Being at FRS for the first time was amazing and it was so fun to learn about the different people involved in similar things as you. FRS was fun from the rides to meeting new people and the fun friendly cheering sessions. Being able to learn about people from such different locations connecting over the same things is an experience to never forget. To add on, can’t forget about the fun and exciting rides that we got to ride!

Frias Monster Mash
18 October 2024
Darine Dizon | 12

I LOVED VOLUNTEERING AT FRIAS MONSTER MASH!! This was my second (and final) year of volunteering at this event for this school, so it was a bit of a bittersweet experience for me. I was also the Lead Volunteer for this event, so I really made the most out of this event by helping my peers serve everybody efficiently and in a positive manner. I dressed up as Makima from Chainsaw Man, and I was so happy to see the little kids dress up as their favorite anime characters (shoutout to the JJK kids)! DOKC helped organize the lines, sell and serve food, gave out candy to the Trunk-or-Treat vehicles, and more! The volunteers got a LOT of free food and perks at the end!

Springs Preserve Clean Up
12 October 2024
Cruz Galzinski | 10

I volunteered at Springs Preserve to help clean up the trail, I went with my friends and we explored and looked around the trails to look for any trash. The trails were pretty clean but we still found some small pieces of trash like water bottles and wrappers. After we were done looking around the trails for any trash, we got to look around at the museum area. It was a very enjoyable experience, it’s nice to be able to help out nature by clearing out the trash. I will be definitely be attending more Spring Preserve events.

Indigo Castro | 9

I attended the Key Club September DCM, and I had a great time! I was connecting with other members and just overall having fun. We did an activity called Color A Smile, where we colored pictures to put a smile on someone’s face. DCM was such a great experience, and I loved meeting new people.

August DCM
24 August 2024
Olivia Nguyen | 11

The Region 5 August Joint DCM was a blast! I love every region event that we have and it is so fun to socialize and meet people from other divisions. At this event, we had a t-shirt drive and a water balloon fundraiser which was super fun. As my first DCM officially on DLT, I got to help with recognition and also old/new business for my club! Our advisor, Mr. McLean also won Club Advisor of the Month, and he is more than deserving of it. Overall, an eventful DCM and I can’t wait for next month.

December DCM
14 December 2024
Catherine Nguyen | 12

The December Region Joint 5 DCM was such an enjoyable experience! One of the highlights was seeing the LTGs get pied. I always love attending region events because they’re such a great opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with friends. Another standout was the delicious pancake and tater tot breakfast generously prepared by our Kiwanis. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and everything tasted amazing.

Kiwanis Bookmarking
17 November 2024
Alabama Acosta | 12

I went to the kiwanis bookmark and holiday card service project at Jason’s Deli. We did a lot in just two hours. We made book marks, cards, and filled bags with things like shampoo conditioner and body wash along with bags for spread the word nevada. We got to just sit and talk while making book marks and it was nice to meet so many of our kiwanis. I’ve met or seen lots of them before at other events but it was nice to have the opportunity to really talk to them. They were all so nice and loved to hype us all up about or bookmarks which was very sweet. I was nervous going into it since it was a bunch of adults but the experience was amazing!

Blackhurst Fall Festival
18 October 2024
Olivia Nguyen | 11

After school on Friday, I volunteered at the Blackhurst Fall Festival! I helped out at the donut walk, where I handed donuts to little kids and packaged the donuts into individual plastic bags. It was super fun but also super cold and windy that day. My favorite part was seeing all the cute costumes and how excited the kids were to get free donuts. We also drew little signs in chalk around the festival pointing to the donut walk. I volunteered here last year and I would definitely do it again!

October DCM
9 October 2024
Catherine Nguyen | 12

Coming to the DCM Bonanza hosted was really fun especially for the Pink Out theme and Halloween coming soon. Bonanza’s board really made this DCM enjoyable with all their decorations and preparations! Also, it was an exciting day for DO getting recognized as #1 for the term’s snazzy stocks as well!!

ACDC Get Out The Vote
8 September 2024
Jasmine Kizilkaya | 10

This event was super fun! Originally we were supposed to go around knocking on doors but we had to do phone calls instead! We had a competition and whoever had the most calls would get an owala water bottle. During it a massive beetle landed on my shoulder and it was terrifying but it started a funny conversation!

Ronald McDonald Dinner Service
18 August 2024
Catherine Nguyen | 12

This was my second time cooking dinner for families at the Ronald McDonald House! I had so much fun last year doing it, so I made sure to sign up this month, and as expected, it was a blast cooking with Kiwanis. Although I am no chef, we all contributed to making Korean bulgogi, cucumber salad, and garlic spinach. It was a really straightforward recipe, so it was easy to do and fun at the same time. A highlight of this event was having my face covered with tears as I cried while cutting all the onions LOL

Candidate Training Conference
7 December 2024
Olivia Nguyen | 11

This was my first time at Candidate Training Conference. It was honestly super cool to get more educated and learn more about the duties of an LTG. We learned a lot about the process of becoming an LTG and what comes with the job. We also got to do impromptu speeches which was somewhat fun but also very nerve wracking. Overall a good experience especially if you are unsure about running!

November DCM
13 November 2024
Sandra Chafloque | 12

On November 13th, I attended our DCM! I had never been to one, so I was excited to see what it was all about. I also knew that this would be another interconnected opportunity with other key-club members from my division. The meeting began an introduction from our school Desert Oasis for hosting it. For, the majority of the meeting, our LTG Tyler presented old business and new chances to get involved in key club. The ending of the meeting was my favorite part because we played a competitive yet friendly game of jeopardy to break the ice! We were split off into groups, and I was placed in a group with people from other schools. It was genuinely so much fun to work together and collaborate towards the same goal (winning), even though we don’t know each other. At the end of the DCM, I bought the cutest tote and pin that I use daily.

My experience at RTC was amazing and unforgettable. There were many schools that come together to celebrate Key Club and their school spirit. My
experience with the workshops were amazing as well, my favorite workshop was the lei making. While I wasn't the best with making leis it was really fun with my friends. The cheers were overal my favorite thing about RTC, there were many diverse cheers throughout the whole experience it made it better. it was also amazing watching the ditterent schools cheer with their original cheers. I loved the spirit gears and the dillerent superhero themes as well. I wholeheartedly recommend going to RTC whenever you have the chance to!

Opportunity Village HalloVeen
13 October 2024
Kyla Abella | 9

I volunteered at Opportunity Village during their HallOVeen event. I was able to volunteer 2 different times with some of my friends from DO and SWCTA! The first time around we were in charge of making sure people didn't cross the train tracks when the train was near, we were able to enjoy some of the food with a volunteer discount (which was very delicious) When I volunteered for the second time, me and my friends were able to work the midway games! There were 4 different games that the volunteers in the area were able to rotate through, and we were in charge of restocking prizes, and helping people with the game itself. I enjoyed volunteering and I would definitely recommend signing up, even if you go alone you'll be able to meet new people from other schools!

Greek Food Festival
27 September 2024
Travis Cabelles | 11
I volunteered at the Greek food fest with my friends. We were assigned to work at the Gyros, I was in charge of the bread Daryl did the meat and Holden did the toppings. I learned that working isn’t as boring as it seems. Especially when seeing the customers faces when receiving their order was a pleasure to see. The second booth we had worked at is the kids play area. All the kids were wonderful and a pleasure to look after. This was a great learning experience and I am looking forward to volunteer for more events in the future.

St. Judes Walk/Run
7 September 2024
Jaxson Sparano | 10

I volunteered at St. Jude Walk/Run and it was a really fun event! We were cheering on the families of st jude patients. These families were running to raise money and awareness about cancer in children. They recognized that now in america 80% of kids with cancer get cured! This is 60% more then most countries which show how amazing St. Jude’s children hospital is. Everyone working there treated us with hospitality, they gave us pinkbox donuts and they even gave us these cute maracas!

Back to School Night
8 August 2024
Kayla Lee | 11

I volunteered at the Back to School night for DOHS with the rest of the amazing board. We handed out flyers and lollipops to new members and got so many sign ups. I lost my voice from talking so much but it was so fun to talk to all my old friends. I missed so many people and got to catch up with everyone.

Backpack Packing
27 June 2024
Diviyana Kumar | 12

Hey Key-uties! I had the opportunity to volunteer for Sahara Casino for their sponsored schools annual backpack filling. I actually got to do so many things and I was pretty busy the entire time unpacking stationary, making the pencil cases, and packing the bags. I met some of my mom’s coworkers and even reunited with some old friends! It was super fun to be able to volunteer again and I’m so excited for what’s in store this year!

One APIA Nevada
30 June 2024
Cruz Galzinski | 10

Volunteering at One APIA Nevada was a very fun experience. I went my friend Jaxson and we interacted with many other volunteers. At this event we got to paint with an instructor, they taught us how to paint a pot with flowers. While we painted, we got to discuss about civic issues that affect the community as a whole. Everyone was very respectful and was open to hearing everyone’s opinions. I learned a bunch of new things and am very grateful for being able to get together with others and speak about important topics.

June DCM
1 June 2024
Josalyn Andersen | 10

I had a lot of fun at the June DCM! We made bags out of old shirts and donated them. Although my bag was not the most beautiful, it was a lot of fun learning to make it! I was also seriously impressed with the raps that were made for the icebreaker. Overall I enjoyed the DCM and I’m excited for the next one!

Officer Training Conference
4 May 2024
Jimena Aguilera | 12

On May 4th, I went to OTC with board for officer training! We were split into different rooms for each position. In the Vice Presidents room I learned about my responsibilities, new ways to improve our club, and how to help out the other officers! They went over timelines for RTC and how to make it as organized and stress free as possible. I learned a lot about what it means to be an officer in key club and it was definitely needed. This just made me more excited for the new term and what we can accomplish :D

April DCM
16 April 2024
Olivia Nguyen | 11

The April DCM was so cool as it was Tyler’s first DCM and Izzy’s farewell banquet. It was so sad to see her go but I am so excited for this upcoming term. End of the term awards are also super exciting as we won club attire, on time submissions for half term, increased membership by 25%, and our bulletin editor, Trischelle, won Distinguished Club Newsletter! I am super proud of what we accomplished this term and I am excited for what we have ahead of us!

Club Banquet
17 April 2024
Kayla Lee | 11

I really enjoyed our ‘23-‘24 term banquet. It was super refreshing to see our members who we had been missing come back and hangout with us for awhile. First we welcomed members while setting up. I personally made the kahoot icebreaker to recap the term. Then after we played the kahoot we dismissed for food. We had gotten canes for catering and it was pretty good. Then we did our superlatives and introduced our new board. I’m super excited to see all the plans our new board has!

St. Judes Walk/ Run
23 September 2023
KaeLynn Coller | 11

The St.judes walk/run was super fun. We were able to cheer on the runners and walkers the whole time. We also ran into other key clubs and other clubs in general and were able to do spirit battles. Overall the event was really fun and I would definitely do it again.

Rock N' Roll Marathon
25 February 2024
Avery Bautista | 12

This year’s Rock N Roll Marathon felt more hectic than last year because there were less volunteers. Nonetheless, the team I worked with did amazing. We worked with an electrolytes energy drink called mortal and this was a hassle to handle. In the beginning, I handed out drinks then I worked on refilling the rest of the event. It’s funny how I was in a rush to fill as much cups as possible just for there to be a lot leftover lol. I enjoy volunteering for this event because you’ll always be occupied and trust me when I say the rush gets to you NOT just the runners.

DDC Competition
24 February 2024
Darine Dizon | 12

The DDC Competition was great! I was able to see dancers from different schools, and each person had their own style of dancing. I really enjoyed seeing the crews performing because there's a lot of possibilities for their performance. Everybody was so supportive of each other and the atmosphere was great! I would definitely recommend this event for any future volunteers!
